Pristine bamboo forests were one of the biggest reasons for my fervent desire to visit Japan. I once had a dream about the beautiful Arashiyama bamboo forests without having ever seen them- it was a great disbelief when I stumbled across a photograph of my dream, labelled with the location. After that surreal experience, the Arashiyama bamboo forests became my priority destination. When I finally visited Japan and went to the site of my dreams, it was a truly magical feeling, with the wind passing through the tall bamboo as you walk down the turning pathway looking at the endless sea of pale green trees blending in one another.
